WHAT IS ROOT CANAL THERAPY?
Root canal therapy is a type of treatment used when injury or tooth decay causes the pulp inside your tooth to become infected. This treatment is also useful if you have a crack on your tooth close to the nerve or sometimes the nerve in a tooth may die for example grinding or accidents that bump and cause trauma to the tooth.
HOW DOES ROOT CANAL
First of all, you receive a local anaesthetic to make sure that you can’t feel anything. We do this using a device called ‘the Wand” which administers the anaesthestic in a slow and controlled way to make the process more comfortable for you.
Then, your dentist will drill your tooth to access the root canal system inside, cleaning it thoroughly to remove the infection and the pulp.
After it has been properly cleaned, it will then be filled temporarily and fitted with a crown. Your dentist will call you back for another appointment to check that all the infection has gone, and then they will permanently fill your tooth.

- Stops infection from spreading further in your body.
- Restores the health and structure of your tooth to let you get back to normal life free of pain and worry.
